Readiness for Kindergarten – Easter Kids’ Songs

Singing is a wonderful activity to encourage kindergarten readiness. Children learn vocabulary and rhythm. Music is a kind of parallel to math as it is based on spacing and sequencing, too. Singing promotes listening and auditory skills, to name just a few. To help your child with readiness for kindergarten, sing along! And to make sure you have lots of time to get sic, er…I mean, lots of time to sing these, here are some in plenty of time for Easter. The tunes are nice and easy, especially when you hear them over and over and over:

1 little, 2 little, 3 little Easter Eggs,     4 little, 5 little, 6 little Easter Eggs,
7 little, 8 little, 9 little Easter Eggs,    10 little Easter Eggs.

I love the way that Mrs. Jones has adapted Mulberry Bush to give lots of verses. More can be added such as: This is the way we look for eggs, etc!
See how the bunny hops along……On an Easter morning.
See how the bunny wiggles his nose…..On an Easter morning.
See how the bunny flops his ears……On an Easter morning.
This is the way he paints the eggs……On an Easter morning.
This is the way he hides the eggs……On an Easter morning.

The inspiration for this song is from a book and from asking kids what they think happens at Easter. Masino and Goldman use the tune She’ll be coming ’round the mountain when she comes. Can you guess my favorite verse? Happy Eatin…um, Happy Easter!

We will color lots of eggs at Easter time. (repeat using song pattern)
Easter Bunny hides those eggs when he comes. (repeat)
We will hunt all over for those eggs. (repeat like song)
And we’ll all eat lots of chocolate when he’s gone.
