Dinovember: Dinosaur and Turkey Jokes

Having kids will really develop your sense of humor, but how about children? What are some ways to support the development of their sense of humor? One way to do that is by sharing jokes.

Young children like to laugh and share jokes, but they don’t always get the right punch line with the right joke. However, they still laugh. A sense of humor is quite a complicated series of thinking skills. As kids take note of what is happening, they have to compare it to many other experiences and evaluate if this experience in particular is normal or unusual. Once they have done that, the next step is figuring out if it is funny or scary and connect all that with how to respond. Kids are also aware at some level of the underlying intention. To make things even more complicated, words are often confusing with multiple meanings. No wonder kids sometimes get a joke mixed up.

The word Dinovember itself is a kind of joke, because it combines dinosaur and november. Apparently, dinosaurs and turkeys share some characteristics so today’s play-of-the-day is jokes with both. Here are a few kids might like:turkey jokes for kids

They especially like funny faces and find some sounds hilarious.  Not only is laughing together a way to bond, there are other benefits, physical, mental, and emotional. Knowing that turkeys and dinosaurs are cousins tickles my funny bone. What tickles yours? And your child’s?
