Pardon the word fun, but history does contain the word story. This month’s blog posts have been about reading /sharing books/stories for children’s kindergarten readiness. Tonight, I get to share centuries of story with a special event at our local museum. That’s where the history comes in, and that’s what it is–stories of long ago. All over the world, there are fascinating museums and some are enormous; think of the Smithsonian, the British Museum, the Guggenheim. Their basis is story. Just this week the nominations came out for the Oscars. Isn’t that story, too? Last fall some Yale researchers found that babies only six months old can understand a story. No matter the age of your little one, enjoy a story with him or her today, another kind of his/herstory.
