When you have both an unlimited supply of kids and an unlimited budget for stickers…you end up with this! From: https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/01/yayoi-kusama-obiliteration-room/

thousands of stickers to thousands of kids

I can’t understand why adults don’t get as excited about stickers as kids do. That’s a big reason why I don’t use my cell phone for lists of info–there’s no way to add stickers. You should see the insides of these little books of mine! Plus, stickers are a super learning tool for all kinds of readiness for kindergarten.

  • Stickers can be used for talking with your child about basic colors, sizes, and shapes. With 2 or more, stickers can be used to compare and figure out same and different: Daisy and Minnie are talking on the phone–that’s the same. Is the alligator talking on the phone?
  •  When younger toddlers add stickers to things that’s a beginning step to writing. While they haven’t printed out what they want to say, they are adding a meaningful comment of their own and that’s the intention of writing.
  • Counting is another quick activity. How many phones? 2 phones. How many dogs? 1, etc. Adults can print a number on a paper and kids can add that many stickers to make their own counting game.
  • Make up a story about a sticker. “Once upon a time, Mickey was looking for something. He looked and looked but he couldn’t remember where it was. He was looking for … ” and you and your child can finish the story. This builds the brain connections for the way we do all stories.

In addition to these kindergarten learning strategies, stickers can keep a child occupied when having to wait. They are usually quite inexpensive and one or two will not ruin a whole load of wash the way one or two crayons will–I’m referring to the stickers, not the kids. Best of all, stickers are fun!! What happens at your house with stickers?
